36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." – Matthew 22:36-39

We take “loving our neighbors” very seriously at St. Mark’s.  An important part of loving each other is to take steps to protect one another, especially during this time of national emergency with the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be following the guidelines of the CDC and Illinois Department of Health to protect our congregation and community.  Currently, the CDC guidelines discourage gatherings of 50 or more; therefore, we will not have on-site worship through the remainder of March.  We are planning on launching online worship starting this Sunday, March 22.

Other precautionary steps we are taking:

  • All weekday activities have been cancelled through March.

  • The church building will be closed to all except for essential staff.

  • For pastoral needs or any other matters, you may contact the church by phone (309-444-4618) or email (office@stmarkswashington.org) during the newly revised office hours (8:30 am – 2:00 pm), Monday through Friday.

We have also launched “check-in” phone contacts to those 65 and over, offering assistance with grocery and/or prescription pick-up and delivery. Please contact Kirsten Tharp, our Parish Nurse, (ktharp@stmarkswashington.org) for more information.
